Lovely Lobsters

I would like to start off by thanking everyone for such a warm welcome. Starting a new class with a new teacher can at times be stressful for young children, however your enthusiasm and encouragement has made the transition a pleasant one for all involved. This has been a busy month for all of us, as we are all experiencing new and exciting moments. The children are really enjoying their new room, they are all so proud to be in the "Big Kid" class. We have also had many opportunities to utilize the new gym and the children absolutely love the time we spend in there. Winter Wonderland has been a fun and educational monthly theme. We explored the weather changes, learned what animals hibernate and we also talked about winter sports we could play in the snow and on the ice. We also read some exciting winter stories. The art projects relating to our winter themes are displayed proudly throughout the classroom. We are looking forward to a fun February as we take "A Trip Through Town". In closing I would like to say thank you again for all of your support. I am looking forward to creating many wonderful memories with you and your children.

Have Happy Valentine's Day!

Sparkling Seahorses

The first month of our New Year has come to an end, the seahorses were very happy to get back to our classroom routine and join their friends again. January brought unusually warm weather, however we managed to bring a little "Winter Wonderland" into our classroom. We made some snow of our own and created various snow creatures. We experimented with colored ice cubes at the water table and practiced our measuring skills as well. It was snow much fun! We learned about the letters Q, R, S, T and U and their sound. Our math skills are developing nicely with addition and subtraction and the use of the plus, minus and equal signs. I want to thank all the parents who attended their parent/teacher conferences, it was a pleasure to share your child's progress with you. In February we will take "A Drive Through Town", finding out if the groundhog sees his shadow, taking care of our teeth, learning about our Presidents and of course sharing our love on "Valentine's Day". We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Zayne, Keara, Anthony V and Jimmy. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!
