Fall Fun

Fall fun is just beginning as the school year gets into full swing! September pictures went very smoothly and we can't wait to see the results of all those happy smiling children being photographed! Back by popular demand, our Fall Fund raiser with Midland products will run from the 16th through the 30th. As always the proceeds will go directly back into the classrooms, giving the teachers the opportunity to purchase those extra special learning toys for the children to enjoy. On the 2nd of October the children in the Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms will be taking a road trip to Battleview Orchards for apple and pumpkin picking. The month will end with all the children having halloween fun on the 31st with the annual parade for the Preschool through Kindergarten classes and indoor parties for all! As always, enjoy the wonderful fall weather!

Super Seals

We have so many wonderful new friends in our classroom. The transition process was such a success; it is such a great joy to see everyone join us each day with such enthusiasm. Throughout the month of September we had the opportunity to learn all about our friends and families. The children have learned that they share many similarities with their friends which has allowed them to form relationships with ease. We hope everyone is ready for October because we will not only be busy learning but we will have many visitors for our "Safety Rules" week. As the colors in our room change so will the season allowing us to end the month with our "Autumn Fun Week". We will be exploring many leaves and their beautiful colors and we will also learn to mix colors to create"Orange". Happy Birthday to Sean on 10/21 and James on 10/25.

Marvelous Manatee

What a month we've had in room 7! The summer weather is slipping away and it's beginning to look and feel like fall. We started off our school year by getting to know all of our new and old friends here at The Goddard School. During our "I Am Special" week, we learned that each and every marvelous manatee in our room is different in some way, but that we can all be friends. "My Favorite Things" week helped us get to know one another even better. We expressed some of our favorite things through discussions, drawings and even personal photos. During "Family Fun" week, we were able to talk about how important all our families are to us and the fun things we do with them. We brought our month to a close with a week of "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes". We played games that allowed us to recognize different parts of our bodies and explored our five senses through various activities. As we approach October, we are looking forward to another great month of watching th Marvelous Manatees grow as learners. Our theme for this month is "Community Helpers". We are excited to begin the month with a field trip to go pumpkin picking! Throughout the unit we will explore various ways people work to build and maintain a safe and healthy community.

Sparkling Seahorses

Our Sparkling Seahorses are bursting with energy and striving for independence. Friendship, sharing and caring for each other have been their main goals. Their days are full of exciting activities such as "Circle Time". where they greet each other with our morning songs. Recognition of names, addresses, phone numbers, colors, shapes and numbers are developed through various games, manipulative and the use of flannel board. Each week they are introduced to a new letter and it's source sound. Our four-year-olds especially enjoy meeting our letter puppet that helps act out our story of the week. Our hand- on learning centers help develop Math, Language Arts and creative abilities. We have explored many activities relating to our monthly theme "Getting To Know Me". October brings us new learning adventures and of course Halloween, our theme is "Community Helpers". We are looking forward to our new season of "Fall" and all the wonderful colors it will bring. Just a few reminders: please label all of your child's belongings with first and last name. Also, please make sure all required utensils, including napkins are packed for your child's lunch.
